遅ればせながら「In the Court of the Crimson King」40thバージョンを購入

お化け級の「Road To Red Box」を購入して以来、すっかりタガが緩んでしまったのか、ついに「In the Court of the Crimson King 40th Anniversary」のボックスを購入してしまいました。まぁ、Amazonの中古盤扱いですのでかなり安価でした。限定発売＝品切れ＝入手困難の“負のスパイラルへの恐怖心”が自分を駆り立てていることは否めません。告白しますと「2CDバージョン」は当時確保していたのですが、こういうことになるのなら最初からボックスを買っておけ、ということなのは痛いほどわかってはいるのですが。

もう嫌というほど聴いている盤でありますが、一応データを整理しておきましょう。

という構成になっているのですね。2CDバージョンと[CD 1][CD 2]は同一内容です。「de-clicked vinyl transfer」の表記はアナログ盤のノイズを除去したという意味ですが、結構残っていたりします。

我が家は残念ながら5.1サラウンドを再生できる環境にないのですが、取り急ぎDVDプレイヤーで再生したところ、まぁ音が非常にクリアであることだけは確認できました。本当は5.1サラウンドを再生できない時点で、このボックスを手にする資格に欠けているわけですが（笑）。

別テイクやプロモ音源、アナログ盤起こし音源といろいろなバージョンで楽しめると気軽に書くことはできますが、もうこれは完全に趣味の領域に入り込んでしまっているわけで、とても初心者にお勧めできる物件ではありません。まずオリジナル盤をしっかり聴きましょう。すべての曲をそらんじることができて段階で、恭しくこのボックスを手にしましょう。
